Herbs - List of Herbs with Definitions and how they are used.
Tabebuia
impetiginosa (Pau d'arco bark)
contains the active constituents Lapachol and beta-lapachone, which are also
known as naphthaquinones. Laboratory tests have demonstrated that both Lapachol
and beta-lapachone have anti-fungal properties as potent as ketoconazole,
a common antifungal drug, used in the treatment of Candidiasis and yeast
infections. Pau D'arco is not soluble in water and is best taken in tincture
form where the active ingredients have been extracted medicinally in
pharmaceutical ethanol. To prevent side effects, it is also important that the
whole bark is used in the extraction process. This process has been followed at
Native Remedies to bring you the strongest and most effective formula
possible.

Tanecetum
parthenium (Feverfew) is a well-known medicinal herb and one of the
most widely respected in the prophylactic (preventative) treatment of migraine
and chronic headache. There are many clinical studies to support its
effectiveness in significantly reducing or completely eliminating the occurrence
and the severity of chronic headache and migraine. Scientific research has
demonstrated that Feverfew contains a range of compounds called sesquiterpene
lactones, the principle ingredient being parthenolide. Parthenolide has been
scientifically shown to prevent excessive clumping of blood platelets and to
reduce the release of certain pain inducing chemicals and inflammatory
compounds. It has also been shown to make smooth muscle in the walls of cerebral
blood vessels less reactive to vaso-constrictors - thereby relaxing constricted
blood vessels and increasing blood flow to the brain.

Gokshura
- Tribulus Terrestris (Tribulus)
Gokshura is a sex and mood enhancer that stimulates the production of the
Luteinizing Hormone (LH). When LH levels are elevated, the natural
production of testosterone also increases. LH is a hormone that also
increases sex drive and virility. Laboratory studies have found that
Gokshura increases sperm count after being taken for 30 days and can result in
better than 50% increase in testosterone levels. This herb also has a
stimulating effect on the liver by helping to convert cholesterol and fats into
hormones and energy. When this action is combined with the increase in
testosterone levels which promote protein synthesis, positive nitrogen balance
as well as faster recuperation and recovery from muscular stress, Gokshura has a
tremendous positive impact on strength and stamina.
